Description

Jesus continued to appear to his disciples and followers in the days following his resurrection. None of them was sure if they would see Jesus again and they often seem to have been taken by surprise. In John 21, seven of the disciples (Simon Peter, Thomas, Nathanael, James, John and two others who are not identified) have gone back to fishing. They catch nothing. Once more, they do not immediately recognise Jesus when he calls to them from the beach. Apart from helping them to catch a substantial quantity of fish, Jesus cooks breakfast for them. The cooked breakfast emphasises the physical presence of Jesus as he cares for his friends.

Session aim: To know that Jesus continued to care for his disciples.
