Description
A short, lighthearted sketch about the transfiguration, based on Acts 1:6-14. It explores what it means to spread the good news to the 'ends of the earth' and considers how the disciples may have reacted to this instruction. It would be particularly useful for informal and all-age worship.
Extract: Reading: ACTS 1:6-14 Immediately after the reading two people start to gossip, loudly.
1: Did he say what I thought he said?
2: (Staring up at the ceiling) What did you think he said?
1: I thought he said we should spread the good news to the people of Samaria - Samaria! I am not going to Samaria to spread any news - good or bad.
2: (Still staring at the ceiling, not really listening) Hmmmm.
1: Well it can't be right can it? I wouldn't give a Samaritan the time of day, let alone the good news. Dirty people, Samaritans and dangerous. You have to watch yourself traveling through Samaria they'll nick the saddlebags of your donkey quicker than you can say Messiah. That's no place to go spreading the word. (He nudges actor 2). Are you even listening? ..........
