2. Song
3. Gospel Reading: Luke 24:4453
4. Talk: First a little bit of science and some confectionary, I bet you
didn't expect science or confectionary in Church today, but it's a
topsy turvy day so here goes: People used to believe in a three tier
world (like a Liquorice Sandwich) With heaven at the top, then
earth, then hell. Jesus went up to heaven, via the clouds. We now
know that our world is a round planet like Mars Planet Sweets
(these are like Maltesers). And surrounded by hundreds of galaxies
(add in milkyway stars) all moving in an endless vacuum. Which can
leave people asking Where did Jesus go?
Mind the Gap This has been some people's response to a lot of
scientific discoveries from the shape of the world to the Large
Hadron Collidor. People ask Where did our God go? If we fall into
the trap of this way of thinking we're left with a God of the gaps
who gets smaller and smaller with every new discovery.
So what is the alternative?
