PUPPET DRAMA – EASTER – SYMBOL OF THE CROSS
Ideal for Children’s talk either in Church or School

2 characters: George – puppet, Andrew – worship leader.
(prop needed to hold up in different ways – simple square cross shape – all sides of cross equal)

Andrew: I wonder who’s making all that noise? Is it you George? What are you doing in there?
George: Oh hello! I was just having a hunt around to see if I could find any chocolate but as usual I’ve eaten it all! What have you got there Andrew?
A: Well I’ve got some cross shapes that might help us understand a bit more about the Easter story.
G: That sounds good, I think I could do with a bit of help understanding it all. What’s that there though – it looks like a giant sticking plaster. Have you been having an accident?
A: No this is to remind us about Jesus, that he was someone who helped people, someone who healed people when they were sick and made them better.
G: I remember, like the story about the blind man – Jesus made him see again.
A: That’s right. Now George what about this cross. Where might you see one of these?
G: Well shiver me timbers! That’s the sort of cross you see on a pirate treasure map – X marks the spot and all that. What’s that got to do with Jesus.
A: Well you see Jesus wanted people to know that if they trusted in him he could show them the greatest treasure of all, he could help them be friends with God.
G: This is good. What’s the next one? Oh no! I hate maths and that looks like an addition sign. I’m rubbish at adding!
A: Don’t worry George, I’m not going to get you to do your sums. It’s to remind us that whilst Jesus was alive lots and lots of people began to follow him. The numbers just kept adding up!
G: That looks like a crossroads. You sometimes have to check on a map which way to go at those don’t you?
