This reflection guide could be used in several ways. An individual reader could use it to think more deeply about the Twilight series and raise questions about its treatment of theology, salvation, or power. It could also be a resource for many kinds of group conversation—for example, between mothers and daughters after reading the Twilight novels and watching the movies, or in a youth group setting. It could also be used very effectively for a Twilight weekend retreat for young people, with time during the retreat for viewing a portion or all of the movies in their entirety. Finally, the guide could serve as a discussion starter for a small group of readers who want to discuss the novels from a specific standpoint of gender equality. These questions are intended to help readers, particularly girls and women, reflect on the many themes and subtexts relating to gender, sex, and power in the stories.
