Description
A couple sit by a dying fire in the midst of a wilderness. For them it seems that all hope has gone. All they can do is to sit by the fire and watch it go out. From the darkness beyond they are visited by others attracted, for one reason or another, to the flames. With each conversation the couple - and the audience - is challenged to consider their way of reaching out in the name of the church. Finally someone in the darkness needs their help - and another comes to help the couple with the injured party. And the fire does not go out. In fact it is fueled by the fresh actions of the couple. Can be presented as a fully staged play with 4 - 8 players or as a dramatized readings with a narrator giving the stage directions.
