The presence of the living God is not metered or protected from touch. Neither is it confined to the diagrams, installations and the expertise of professionals. As the Psalms demonstrate, the creative loving energy of God lights up life in ways beyond our imagining or expectation. Psalm 145 is just such an exultant celebration of God's presence. Read today its intrinsic sense of profound spiritual awareness and great expectation is so very striking.

"I will extol you, my God and King, and bless your name forever and ever. Every day I will bless you, and praise your name forever and ever. Great is the Lord, and greatly to be praised; his greatness is unsearchable. One generation shall laud your works to another, and shall declare your mighty acts. On the glorious splendour of your majesty, and on your wondrous works, I will meditate. The might of your awesome deeds shall be proclaimed, and I will declare your greatness."

Here God is manifestly real, relevant and connected to daily life. What a contrast to today, when the dominant paradigm of secular thought disconnects religious tradition from reality.
