Shabby chic is very much in vogue and has introduced some fascinating words into our everyday conversation: who would have thought that junk furniture would be declared vintage and worthy of being 'upcycled' and 'repurposed' Looking around this fabulous shop in Beverley there is much to delight the eye, with carefully chosen and complementary pieces of 'distressed' furniture put alongside each other and stylishly displayed together. If only this shop were on the road to Emmaus the theologian's task would be self-evident, because such shabby chic communicates the essence of the gospel in a very immediate and tangible way and enables us to get inside the experience of the
two distressed and downcast disciples as they walk away from Jerusalem.
