Today I received a much-forwarded e-mail with a moving story about a woman showing a caring attitude to a homeless guy and his mentally challenged friend who showed up in a fast-food restaurant. The e-mail promised that if in turn I forward the e-mail to my friends, I can make a wish, and it will come true. If I send it to five people, my wish will come true in three months; if I send it to ten people, it will come true in five weeks; and so on. The people who send and forward the e-mail want to be in control of their lives and their destinies, and they think they know how to get that control...
