It was just like falling asleep.
I wanted to get that out of the way first. It’s what everyone wants to know. What was it like? What did it feel like? How was it to die? And that’s the best I can do. It was just like falling asleep.
Of course, I didn’t know that was what was happening. I didn’t know that day was going to be any different from any other. I didn’t know that it was meant to be my last day on earth. No one can ever know that, can they? For me it was just another ordinary day – with an extraordinary event to follow.
I’d been working for most of it. You know how it is when the household is busy everyone pitches in. Sunset was coming on and I was thinking about the evening meal.
