When Jesus cried out those terrible words from the cross, “My God, my God, why have you forsaken me?” he was speaking the first verse of Psalm 22 - actually a song of praise - that goes on to tell that “all the families of the nations will bow down before the Lord.” (v 27-28). It was the act of Jesus, dying on the cross for our sins that would make possible the fulfilment of the promise, not only of the Psalm, but of the covenant made centuries before with Abraham...
