Description
Monologue/ drama: The Sceptic
They’re a funny lot, these Jesus-followers!
Have you heard the latest tale they’re telling?
It seems that their leader has disappeared again – this time he’s gone off up to heaven!
Well, I know some of the old stories say that other leaders have been taken away to be like God – remember what they said about Elijah? He went off up there in a chariot! But this latest story really is one tale too many for me.
I mean, it’s all a bit peculiar, isn’t it? After all the bother that Jesus had caused – and, I know, he did a lot of good as well – but he really got up the noses of the priests, didn’t he? And they finally caught up with him and decided to get their own back – and how! Remember that sham of a trial and the crucifixion that even Pilate and some of the soldiers were not very sure about?
But we all thought that would be the end of his travelling followers and that they wouldn’t dare show their faces again.
