Prayer: God, who understands us
God, who understands us as we are, please forgive the foolishness of our behaviour
and the wilfulness of our ways.
We excuse ourselves by saying we are only human – and we are – but just as our children learn many of their behaviour patterns from us, we should take our example from you.
Yet we ignore you so often.
So our lives can contain petty squabbles, bitter words, dismissive actions, rudeness, malice, spite and anger.
And we let these things fester in our lives until they ruin relationships and damage the fellowship and work of our Christian community.
Forgiving God, help us to rid ourselves of these damaging faults.
