Prayer of Thanksgiving for Pentecost Sunday
Genesis 1:1-2 In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth. Now the earth was formless and empty, darkness was over the surface of the deep, and the Spirit of God was hovering over the waters.
Father God we thank you that your Holy Spirit has been here since the beginning of our world. We thank you that because the Holy Spirit was there at the beginning it is now always with us.
Exodus 31:2-4 “See, I have chosen Bezalel son of Uri, the son of Hur, of the tribe of Judah, and I have filled him with the Spirit of God, with skill, ability and knowledge in all kinds of crafts— to make artistic designs for work in gold, silver and bronze.
Father God we thank you that your spirit has given us gifts to help us praise you and worship you.
Matthew 1:18 This is how the birth of Jesus Christ came about: His mother Mary was pledged to be married to Joseph, but before they came together, she was found to be with child through the Holy Spirit.
Father God we thank you that through your Holy Spirit you provided us with our saviour and our way to forgiveness and to eternal life.
