Suggestions for using this book as a study course in Lent
(or at any other time of year)


Someone needs to be the facilitator for the group and plan the session in advance, but the following pattern should be fairly easy to follow, with the group leading itself for a lot of the time. You take a chapter from Part One each week.

As with every small group it is important to think carefully about the space you meet in, ensuring everyone can be seated and see each other clearly; that there are refreshments ready, either as people arrive or at the end of the session.

Each person will need a copy of the book so that they can read and follow the meditations and the Scriptures during the session and then in preparation for the following week.

The session
Because each of the chapters is quite short, the session can begin simply by reading the Scriptures and the meditation. People will have read it before, but it is helpful to hear it read out loud and by different voices...
