I watched today as the television interviewer fired questions at a man whose main aim seemed to be to answer them all at great length without saying anything at all. On and on the interviewer went, trying angle after angle; but the man stood his ground. No, he repeated, our policy is such-and-such. Our main aim is to make sure that all the different interests of the region are balanced as best as can be. Yes, compromises will be needed (though he never said what). No, we don’t intend to impose our own solution, but to help the region find its own. And so on. And so on...
