Jesus’ Fame Increases
Matthew 9.27-37

For many years now, one of the regular themes of fiction-writers has been the spy story. During the Cold War years in particular, when East and West were deeply suspicious of each other (normally this meant Russia and America, but their respective allies joined in as well), there was a great deal of real-life spying, some of which continues to this day. Double agents work in public for one side and then, when off duty, pass on secrets to the other side. Many thriller-writers have seen their opportunity and written story after story of daring and exciting exploits. Books have turned into movies; movies have made millions; tens of millions of people around the world who never spied for anyone or anything know about James Bond, and have got a whiff of pleasure from the danger and drama of the undercover world, experienced at second or third hand...
