When my brother was at school, he took part in a performance of ‘Noye’s Fludde’ by Benjamin Britten. Actually, he took the part of Noah himself. His costume and make-up were superb. Though he was only 17, he looked like a really old man, complete with beard and grey hair. The production required him to make an entrance through the main door of the auditorium; but, when he got there, an overzealous usher, failing to recognize him, took him for an elderly down-and-out and tried to stop him getting in. It was a great compliment to the make-up artist...
