Like a blanket wrapped around us
safe and warm within your arms,
this is our firm recollection,
safe from all that hurts or harms.
God, we know the truth of blessing,
how you saw us through the night,
brought us safely to the dawning,
to the joy of morning light.
Yet before us all seems hopeless
in the wilderness our dreams
are soon fading, lacking substance,
like inconsequential schemes.
Are you there God? You seem absent,
we have waited for so long.
Bring your blessing, give a reason
for the hope within our song.
