This weekend our rector is on a discernment retreat, and next weekend he is away preaching at a church in another city. I was a bit slow on the uptake, and someone else had to whisper to me that this is code for his wondering whether he should leave if that church asks him to move there. Having your pastor leave is a bit scary. He has been with us for eight years and has been a great gift for us. (He has given me lots of scope to be involved in the ministry, too.)
