I once took part in a workshop where students produced dramatic, modern versions of stories in Genesis. The one I most remember was a retelling of Genesis 1 by Julia Bolden. There were a number of neat aspects to the story. It is set in a house instead of a farm, which helps an urban person like me to identify with it. Instead of bringing animals to the man, God creates gadgets such as a washing machine; but the man wants someone who can combine all the skills of the gadgets(!). And when the man sees the woman, he cries out, “This is it!”...
