After a journey that took twenty-four hours, some friends of mine arrived yesterday in the capital of one of the toughest and poorest countries in Africa, which they visit from time to time seeking to help refugees there make their voices heard in the West. Their work is not exactly admired by the government that turned these people into refugees, who are in recurrent danger as are people who aid them. We who support the people who go on these trips live with some anxiety through the weeks they spend in Africa, and we breathe a sigh of relief after they complete a mission, are transported back to the capital, and board a plane back to the country’s gateway in Europe...
