Early evening in the small Galilean town
As I walk to Simon’s house.
Simon the Pharisee:
a good man,
and an important one.
People look up to him; he’s influential and uses that influence to help others.
I feel a slight thrill:
Simon is having a dinner party, and I’ve been invited.
It feels good; an acknowledgement of my value and importance.
I belong.
Dusk is falling and the lamps have been lit in the house -
a warm glow.
