Maundy Thursday
Maundy Thursday may not be an obvious occasion on which to offer all-age worship. Yet it is a vital festival in the church year, as we remember the pivotal events leading up to Jesus’ death on Good Friday. There are some very dramatic stories, including the giving of bread and wine, the foot-washing, the foretelling of betrayal and denial and the struggle in the garden of Gethsemane. These are powerful stories, dealing with deep feelings, and the liturgies and traditions that have grown up for this day are also full of powerful drama and emotion. This may be why churches have not seen these as opportunities for the whole church family to share together. Yet because they offer a real possibility of experiencing the events rather than learning about them, they are also full of potential for all ages to be together...
