SKETCH: HOME SWEET HOME:

Two young people are living rough in London. The action takes place late at night in a shop doorway. Props required include a blanket, a handkerchief, a cardboard box, and a mobile telephone.

Jack: Hi Jim; have you found somewhere to sleep tonight?
Jim: Yes Jack; just along the road in the doorway of Dorothy Perkins. I’ve found a nice cardboard box as well.
Jack: I think I’ll stay here at WH Smith’s. Mind, it’s really cold tonight. I’m glad I’ve still got this blanket.
Jim: Did you go down to the soup kitchen earlier. The hot soup certainly warms you up. I’m still hungry though.
Jack: Me too; I hope that lady from the Salvation Army comes round with her bread rolls. They might be a bit stale, but they fill a corner. Mind, what I’d give for a hot bacon sandwich.
Jim: Not much hope of that, I’m afraid.
Jack: (Wrapping the blanket tightly round him). Jim, I’m really cold. I don’t think much of this life, do you?
Jim: It’s the only life we’ve got mate.
Jack: There must be something better. When Gran died and left me a bit of money, I thought right, this is it, I’m off. I couldn’t leave home fast enough.
Jim: These things always seem to be a good idea at the time.
