7 Becoming Real:
Once upon a time there was a velveteen rabbit. He woke up one Christmas morning to find himself in a little boy’s stocking with a pile of other toys. He was brand new and wondering what was going to become of him. When the little boy opened his presents, he was delighted with his new rabbit and played with him for hours, but soon the rabbit got put away in the toy cupboard and forgotten. He met lots of other toys in the cupboard, including the smart mechanical ones who thought they were ‘real’. One of the best friends the rabbit made was the skin horse, who talked to him a lot and told him how important it was to become really ‘real’ and that this happened to you when your owner loved you. The rabbit listened to everything the skin horse had to say…
