In Praise of Jesus Christ

Description
In Praise of Jesus Christ
Colossians 1.15-20
I flicked the switch to turn on the television. I didn’t know what the programme would be; I was tired at the end of a long day and just wanted to relax for a few minutes.
The sound came on a little before the picture appeared. A voice said, simply, ‘This is the head.’
At once – still before the picture appeared – I found myself wondering what sort of a ‘head’ this might be. Was the programme about archaeology, with people looking at a human skeleton? Or was it perhaps about a small animal or insect? Or was it about a school or college, introducing us now to its principal? Was it about a particular musical instrument (the scroll and peg-box of a violin is called the ‘head’)? Was the programme showing us some coins, and pointing to the side where the monarch’s head appears? Was it about the source of a river? Or the top of a foaming pint of beer?...
