1 Corinthians 7.17-24

I once sat in an entranced audience as one of the leading comedians of the day told a very long, very funny, story. The story itself was clever, witty, and amusing in all sorts of ways; but what fascinated me was the way he would keep breaking in to his own long story with other, shorter ones, sometimes just one-line asides, sometimes small stories in themselves. On at least one occasion he had a small story within a middle-sized story within the large story; and somehow he kept the whole thing together so that nobody lost the thread of where he was really going...
