of Jewish refugees in the 1930s,
stumbling bleary-eyed from trains in the
UK or landing be - wildered from trans-
Atlantic ships in New York. In one hand
they clutch a battered suitcase, and in
the other, they clasp the small hand of
their child. They look around with
startled expressions at this foreign country
which is reluctantly giving them safety.
