Malachi (the Gadarean demoniac – Mark 5:1-20)
Malachi could see the despair etched into his father’s face as he talked to the friends, family and neighbours who had gathered in their house.
“We are powerless to do anything about it”, said Thomas, Malachi’s father. “ If the commander of the Roman garrison has decided to erect a shrine to one of their ‘gods’ right in the middle of our community, then there is nothing we can do about it. We can only wait for Yahweh’s deliverance. Let us remember how the people of Israel in Egypt waited patiently for God to liberate them from the power of Pharaoh’s army”…
