ONE DAY AT A TIME
Meditations for Carers
17. Let it out!

Psalm 116.1–2

Some days, some weeks even, I can cope. There are even nice days, happy days, good days. But then there come days when things don’t go right and everything seems to build up until I’m ready to scream, ‘Stop! Let me out!’

You too?

That’s okay. That’s normal. And it’s better to let it out than hold it inside. But how to find somewhere safe to let it out, someone safe to say it to, without anyone being hurt – not me or the person I’m caring for. Not everywhere is safe. Not everyone will respond with understanding and kindness. Talking to the wrong person can do more damage. So choose wisely.
