A lighthearted sketch for two actors to introduce advent and the ideas in Luke 21

Expect the Unexpected
Year C - First Sunday of Advent
Luke 21: 25-36

A is doing the church flowers. You may want to wear gardening gloves and carry secateurs.
If you don’t normally have flowers in your church, use a pot plant.

B enters carrying a Bible and maintains a deadpan delivery throughout the sketch as s/he reads from the Bible.

B: There will be signs in the sun, the moon, and the stars, and on the earth distress among nations confused by the roaring of the sea and the waves
A: Oh hello, I didn’t see you come in. What’s that you’ve got there then, weather forecast?
B: People will faint from fear and foreboding of what is coming upon the world, for the powers of the heavens will be shaken.
A: Wind’s getting up is it? Last year we had terrible gales round about now. You know the Humphrey’s in Leapale Lane (insert local street name), their apple tree came down, flattened their shed. It was terrible.
