I’ve been thinking about memory. As a result of a comment by a student, I found myself reflecting on the fact that we don’t think much about the link between memory and our life with God—our ethics and our spirituality—though there are lots of books about the psychology of memory. I did come across the statement that “Remember” is the most frequent command in the Bible, though my wife’s response was that she thought “Don’t be afraid” was the most frequent command in the Bible.
