Monologue/Drama: The tale of the slaves

Proper 19 Year A

Matthew 18: 21-35

We knew it was unfair. Totally! And we knew that if we didn’t say anything
that he’d get away with it – again! He was always a slave-driver himself. Even though
he was bought and sold just as we were. But he thought he had it made. Thought he
had our master in his pocket. Thought he could get away with anything.

We knew he was running up debts – and we knew where the money came
from. He was borrowing – if that’s the word, and it isn’t – he was borrowing from the
boss and he wasn’t paying any of it back. We could tell by the way he was living that
the money was coming from somewhere – and it wasn’t going back into the coffers
either...
