The great thing about a theme park is that you can have a good lunch and go on a ride that allows
you to see that lunch again! In Disney’s Epcot Park in Orlando, I am told by one of the
employees that, at the end of the day on the Mission Space ride, there is a competition between
the attendants to see who has captured on their camera phone the most spectacular guest vomit.
It is an extreme ride – one of my favourites. Due to an ingenious system of graphics and very
high-speed rotation, you experience some of the G-forces of a rocket launch and landing. It is
certainly the closest I will ever get to space travel.
I love such thrill rides. Of course, there are moments – just because rollercoasters turn me upside
down at 70 miles per hour – that I ask myself, ‘Why I am doing this?’ It is about experiencing
things that are out of the ordinary and experiencing a little bit of risk.
Not only are thrill rides popular in our culture, but we have also seen a growth in extreme sports.
