What lurks under the surface at Wisteria Lane? Avid viewers of the television blockbuster
Desperate Housewives will probably reply, ‘Quite a few more dead bodies buried just a few feet
down if the past story is anything to go by.’
Yet under the surface of the television series about love, betrayal, friendship and seeking self-
identity are actors whose lives are also about love, betrayal, friendship and seeking self-identity.
If that isn’t true of the viewers’ lives also, a video game based on the series starts you off as an
amnesiac seeking your own self-identity in a web of love, betrayal and friendship!
Desperate Housewives has seen a triumphant return to television for Terry Hatcher – once
Superman’s Lois Lane. Her memoir, Burnt Toast, tells the story of her unemployment, divorce,
depression and loneliness. Television is fickle for all actors, especially female actors whose
prized looks are at the mercy of both time and taste.
Television is, of course, exaggerated reality and there is this reality to all of our lives.
